How to Get Rid of Tiny Black Ants in Your Rollingwood, TX Bathroom Sink Drains & Under Toilet Etc

|

One of the most stubborn pests that can invade a home is ants. It is well known that when ants invade, you should seal up your home stored goodies, seal up every crack, and keep dishes clean. However, with your best efforts, they are still invading your home. With every hole or crack you seal, they seem to find another one. It can become very stressful when you begin to find ants around the sinks, baths and toilets. Many will wonder why ants are now found all over the bathroom. A-Tex Pest Management would like to share why ants invade bathrooms and how you can help keep them out of your home.

What Attracts Ants in the Bathroom?

Ants are a very determined pest. When you seal off one crack they will find another to get to the places they want to go. This makes it difficult to control due to the ant’s size. The kitchen is easily understood as to why ants will invade it. A single crumb is enough to encourage an entire colony of ants. However, when you have a major ant trail throughout your bathroom, this often leads many to wonder, why are there ants in the bathroom? Most often it is the little black ants, or pavement ants, that are found invading homes and bathrooms. Some of these ant species will invade bathrooms due to the moisture’s effects on wood. Moist wood makes a perfect nesting site. Other times they are drawn to the water. The tiny droplets provide ants with the essential resource of water. Ants need water just like other living things. Another reason why ants invade bathrooms is due to the scent of trapped hair in the drains.

Why are Ants in the Bathroom So Hard to Get Rid Of?

Now that we know why ants are found in the bathroom, why is it so hard to keep them out? Not only are ants able to find a number of cracks throughout your home that can provide access into a bathroom, but bathrooms are also limited to their pest control solutions. Insecticides cannot be used inside the shower, bathtub or area near drains. It is illegal. If insecticides or pesticides flow down the drain it can contaminate the water supply. Due to this problem, most pest control companies are hesitant to spray inside bathrooms. Some areas around the walls are safe, but in most cases, they are not the location of the ant’s entry points. So how can you control ants in bathrooms?

How to Get Rid of Ants in the Bathroom Naturally

When it comes to controlling ants, you should have all food products tightly sealed, and all cracks sealed with caulking glue. This can take time because as you seal one crack, ants find another. Keep sealing off any holes or cracks they find. However, you can also use essential oils. You can use essential oil to repel ants. Ants hate the scent of Peppermint and Tea Tree Oil. Using a spray bottle mix together about 15 to 20 drops of oil into a spray bottle and fill it with water. You can use the essential oil mixture around sinks and drains to help deter the ants. For a slightly stronger cocktail, add a little cayenne pepper spice to the mixture. This will stop some of the most stubborn ants and it is safe.
