A-Tex Pest Management takes care of the mud daubers in the commercial and residential properties in Austin, Texas, and surrounding areas. These wasps are so named because they brood nests in the mud. They can also be named dirt daubers, organ-pipe wasps, mud wasps, and potter wasps. Mud daubers range from ½”- 1” long and are completely black or metallic blue. Some species, however, may have yellow or greenish colored markings on their body as well. They are solitary insects, but sometimes multiple nests can be found in mud holes. Unfortunately, these mud holes or nests are made of more than just mud. The saliva from the mud dauber turns the mud into a type of only semi-soluble cement that can be incredibly difficult to remove. And these nests can be rebuilt quickly if the underlying mud daubers are not addressed. These wasps are not normally aggressive but are considered more of a nuisance pest.
“We will not hesitate to call them if the problem arises again, and we will certainly be contacting them for all of our future pest control needs.”
